Charlotte Moss

I like to educate myself as much as possible on designers in the industry and Charlotte Moss is one that always catches my eye...

She is an icon, known for her "comfortable sophistication" and has written six books, the seventh due out this coming Spring.

She's designed numerous collections of fabric, china, carpet, decorative accessories, and even home fragrance now.  She was named one of Elle Decor's "A-List" designers and is always heavily noted for her philanthropy.  I have so much to learn about interior design and want nothing more than to have a job in this industry that would consistently give back to the community.  I'm learning to have faith with this process and to really focus on finding a role that would use my talents for a good greater than my own.  What an amazing role model she is!

This is part of the master bedroom suite she decorated at The Kips Bay Decorator Show House in 2009 to benefit charity...

Here's a few more beautiful images so you can get a better feel for her style of comfortable sophistication...

I love the soft hues and how everything looks so whispy and comfortable right off the bat.  I also love the unexpected rustic hanging of the pendant lamp with rope, it offsets the lady-like pastel colors and florals but blends so well.

This may be my favorite vignette of all...the wallpaper is so great, especially with how well the mirror compliments it.  Here again, see how the juxtaposition of the square and rectangular buildings is set off by the thick dark round mirror.  I love how the marble and iron table is in the same tones of the wallpaper and is very architectural in the nature of it's lines.  Note also the anchoring of finials on either side of the pop of red flowers.  This to me is all in perfect harmony.

She most recently caught my eye, with her ah-mazing new enamel bangles in a partnership with Halcyon Days!
I think I need one in every design!  I could plan an outfit entirely around each of them  This one, the 'Istanbul' bangle, is probably my fave.  You know me and my undying love for ikat!  Oh man, I can already see red wide leg twill pants with a vintage chambray button down and a cropped little striped nautical sweater over it.  All in the name of love for this one ;)...

I really believe putting together a room is just like putting together an outfit.  You want items that create juxtaposition with one another...a long wide leg pant to offset a cropped sweater, a little soft vintage chambray with a preppy chunky woven sweater for texture and then a shiny printed enamel bracelet for that unexpected element of metal-like hardness.  It's all about layering differences that compliment one another.

Check out two more...

The Nantucket Basket weave bangle...
and the Paris' Fishscales bangle...

Couldn't you just see an entire room put together from these two combined?....

...A pair of highgloss rattan basketweave club chairs with black velvet overstuffed cushions...a gold art deco sunburst wall piece, a mirrored side table and white drapes with gold greek key pattern...

Just one last little side note as I head to bed enamored with Charlotte Moss' talent and grace...at the bottom of her website (she's a woman after my own heart) she created playlists on itunes you can download!  Great for inspiration and to get the creative juices flowing.  Once you click this link, then scroll down to the very bottom of the page where it says "Charlotte Moss for itunes" and from there it'll take you to itunes where she has a "Paris-themed" and even a "dream" playlist for downloading.

Enjoy and good night!
